#TarotThursdayThree

Good morning everyone, happy weekend! Yes I know it’s Saturday, but better late than never to post this week’s comments for #TarotThursdayThree!

1. What do you do with a deck you don’t connect with?

I really don’t have many decks I don’t use. The only two I can think of are The Shaman’s Oracle (doesn’t speak to me aesthetically, but got a deal on it) and the Rumi Oracle – the guidebook’s messages are a little too long and drawn out for me, so I barely reach for it. However, the artwork is beautiful, so I’ll use it from time to time to accent my readings, but should probably think about swapping both with someone who will get better use out of it!

2. How long do you give yourself to connect with a new deck?

I’m usually well connected with a deck before ever purchasing! I know what I like and am very particular with artwork and imagery – vibrant, bright, clear colours attract me the most. So before making a purchase, I browse what initially catches my eye to get visually acquainted and connected. If its colour scheme and style don’t speak to me then, I just don’t buy it.

3. What consecration ritual(s) do you use with new divination tools?

Palo santo for the win! Makes little mess and smells divine – it’s my go-to for everything. I also use a selenite wand in a similar fashion, but less frequently. Sometimes (if I remember) I’ll place a new deck under the moonlight with a carnelian or quartz crystal sitting atop to amplify cleansing and charge that baby up!

Hope you enjoyed these fun tidbits – how do your rituals differ? Let me know what you think!

  1. I really wish I liked the smell of Palo Santo more! You’re right, it’s do much less mess…But alas, something about the smell turns me off so I only use it here and there. 😦

    1. Yeah, I can see why – reminds me of frankincense a bit, with a sickly-sweet smell (I love it but my dude – not so much). I was just so unimpressed with my sage stick. Good amount of smoke however smelled terribly when lit? So weird.

  2. I’m getting better at not buying decks I will probably not connect with…but sometimes I still do it :(.

I use cinnamon sticks for clearings/cleansing, I don’t know if they smell nice or horrid, I don’t have a sense of smell, but so far the family has not complained too much. Just wanted to share in case you wanted to experiment 🙂

    1. I know, the temptation is real!

That’s a seriously creative use for cinnamon. Based on what I’ve read it’s a great spice for “heating” things up and activating intentions. Do you use spices/herbs frequently in other practices?
